NO one can deny the heavy burden President Morsi inherited from the toppled regime pertaining to the economic hardship the country suffers because of the weak financial resources, the heavy loans and insignificant health and education services. However, the people were hoping to experience the fast flourishing of the economy and to see an improvement in their living conditions, based on his election promises of implementing a giant development project in the country, which he named Al-Nahda (renaissance). However, the days are passing and the government chosen by the President continues sinking into the traditional problems of shortages of fuel, butane gas cylinders and bread without offering any innovative solutions to get the country out of this trap. In one of his speeches addressing the nation, the President affirmed the country's ability to witness fast growth referring to its wealth of natural resources. Nevertheless, President Morsi has not yet offered a clear plan for utilising these natural resources in the ideal way. The least the president can do is to call for suspending the export of raw materials such as marble and black sand to the world before going through manufacturing processes to maximise the revenues from these resources. He could also organise a major conference for the Egyptian scientists in all fields whether they are living inside or outside the country to present their suggested projects for exploiting our natural resources. Recently, the noted scientist Talaat Ramadan, the head of the Geology and Mineral Wealth section at the National Authority for Remote Sensing recently revealed the discovery of a great deposit of crude iron of high quality in the Western Desert's Bahariya Oasis. Depending on radar photos taken in co-operation with the Canadian Space Authority, Dr Ramadan affirmed the presence of a great quantity of this precious metal, at a depth of just one metre beneath the sands of the oasis. It would besufficient to meet the needs of the iron and steel factories for the next 20 years. Speedily utilising this great find would help create jobs for many persons to work in the mine to be constructed for extracting the iron, together with saving the huge funds being paid out on importing iron from abroad. Most importantly, this find could help create giant industrial projects such as that of auto industry, which could create new communities in the Western Desert.
