CAIRO - The Egyptian Government has called off a plan to raise the wages of public transport employees, the Ministry of Manpower said in a statement Wednesday. "As the transport workers resumed their strike, the deal to probe the possibility of increasing their wages has been scrapped," Ahmed el-Boraie, Minister of Manpower, said in the statement. Cairo's public bus drivers and ticket conductors went on strike Wednesday for the fourth day in a row, despite a deal with the Government on Tuesday that they would end the strike and the Ministry of Finance would study a wage rise. Dozens of drivers demonstrated at the Cabinet's premises, calling for increasing the value of their bonuses.
