CAIRO – The April 6 Youth Movement decided on Saturday to suspend its protest outside the Israeli Embassy and Consulate in Giza and Alexandria, the local media report. The movement said it wants to give the Egyptian Government and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces time to consider expelling the Israeli envoy in Egypt and withdrawing the Egyptian Ambassador from Tel Aviv. A few days ago, Israel killed five Egyptian security personnel on the two countries' borders. The Hebrew State has expressed its regret for this incident, describing it as a mistake. But the Egyptian public and Government want an apology. Thousands of Egyptians took to the streets in protest at what happened. The movement says that it wants to show Israel that the popular will of the Egyptians can achieve their demands after the revolution. It called on Israel during the demonstrations to apologise to the Egyptians, as well as for cancelling all trade agreements with Israel and amending the Camp Davis treaty, signed with Israel in 1979. The movement also wants the Egyptian Government to create a free market area with Gaza on the Rafah border, to break the Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip.
