CAIRO - Egypt's Minister of Civil Aviation Ibrahim Mannaa said on Wednesday that the country's aviation sector has lost LE1.28 billion ($215 million) after the January 25 revolution. The country's national carrier EgyptAir alone has incurred LE1 billion loss, according to Mannaa. "Despite the improvement in the travel industry, which rose by 50 per cent, against 20 per cent during the revolution, the civil aviation sector is still in the red. Revenues do not cover operating costs," Mannaa said. "Despite the loss, labour rights have been intact and received all their financial payments," he added.
