CAIRO (Update 4) - State Security prosecutors Sunday released an Iranian national, charged of spying, after notification from the Egyptian Foreign Ministry that he is a diplomat at the Iranian mission in Cairo, the official Middle East News Agency reported. The suspect was arrested Saturday evening after intensifying spying activities during the Egyptian revolution, taking advantage of a lack of security in the country, the agency quoted investigators as saying. The diplomat, who had been quizzed earlier in the day, sought to collect information about the internal situation in Egypt, the security scene in Sinai and the status of the Muslim Shi'ites in Egypt, they added. He is expected to be deported from Egypt, which has recently said it is ready to open a new chapter in ties with Iran after around 30 years of estrangement.
