CAIRO, August 14, 2018 (MENA) - Damietta port revenues shot up to LE 2.707 billion in FY 2017-2018, Damietta Port Authority Chairman Ayman Saleh said. Saleh made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting of the authority's board which was attended by Transport Minister Hisham Arafat. Saleh reviewed the achievements made in the port over the past four years, citing the establishment of environment-friendly warehouses at LE 12 million, purchasing two tugboats at LE114 million and establishing a dock at LE11 million. He also referred to developing the authority's operations centre at LE12 million. He expounded the progress achieved so far in setting up a multi-purpose station at the port at a total cost of LE1.3 billion. At the end of the meeting, Arafat underlined the importance of proceeding with these efforts to increase revenues. He noted that the ministry is deeply interested in developing maritime transport which is a locomotive for development and a main pillar of the national economy.
