By the Gazette Editorial Board The UAE Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, who is also the Supreme Commander of his country's Armed Forces, visited Cairo this week. And President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was at the airport to receive a guest, whose country enjoys an excellent, strategic and historical relationship with Egypt. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed was leading a high-level delegation to discuss the two countries' strategic partnership and co-operation in different fields. President Sisi said that UAE-Egyptian relations form the basis for constructive inter-Arab co-operation, which has the potential to strengthen much-needed joint Arab Action. Also highlighting the two countries' time-honoured relations, President Sisi said that together with their leaders, the peoples of the two countries have always been keen to preserve and boost such relations to serve supreme Arab interests and fulfil their aspirations. Reciprocating, the UAE Crown Prince expressed his and his people's deep respect for, and appreciation of, the historical relations between UAE and Egypt. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed asserted that the two countries' relations were based on mutual respect, the principle of interest-sharing and solidarity to deepen security and stability in the region. The UAE leader referred to a fundamentally-important point when he confirmed that his country's strong relations and co-operation with Egypt were empowering comprehensive development programmes in the Arab countries. Egyptians vividly remember that it was the late Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan, who established the strong basis of his country's relationship with Egypt. The founder of the UAE also laid the strong foundations of joint Arab work to help the Arab peoples across the region to achieve their dreams and hopes. Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al-Nahyan is still remembered for devoting his life to the service of his people and their Arab brothers. He had the strong belief that unshakeable Arab unity and solidarity would help dismantle the conspiracies woven at home or overseas against the Arab peoples so as to impede their efforts to achieve their ambitions. The founder's sons now walk in his footsteps. The UAE has built constructive bonds with Arab countries with no exception. The UAE is also assessing its foreign relations to serve the interests of the Arab peoples and help them enjoy stability and security. Following their father's advice, his sons are appreciating the fact that Egypt is the bedrock of stability and security in the Arab world. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed confirmed to the Egyptian people and their leadership that his country was keen to accelerate co-operation in different spheres.
