CAIRO, July 30, 2018 (MENA) - Defence Minister General Mohamed Zaki inspected on Monday security forces fanned out in North Sinai to carry out security plans to tighten the net around Takfiri elements and eradicate terrorism under the Comprehensive Operation Sinai 2018. He made a tour of Arish Airport and reviewed the fighting capabilities of the security forces. General Zaki practised some physical exercises with the forces and hailed their high morale and high fighting skills. He also inspected the North Sinai Permanent Operations Centre to follow up the progress achieved so far in combatting terrorism. The defence minister observed a minute of silence over the martyrs of the Armed Forces and Police during his meeting with the North Sinai security forces. He conveyed President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's appreciation of the security forces' brave action in Sinai to uproot terrorism. He lauded coordination between the Armed Forces and police in fighting terrorism. General Zaki also underlined the fact that Sinai people are the first defence line of Egypt's national security alongside the Armed Forces and police. He highlighted the importance of proceeding with upgrading security strategies in view of the developments on the ground. He urged security forces to be vigilant and ready for countering any attacks. The army's second field commander accompanied the minister during the tour.
