Court to rule on lawyers' appeal Sept 5

TANTA (Egypt)- An Egyptian court Sunday delayed until September 5 its ruling on an appeal filed by two jailed lawyers. The delay, which meant that the two lawyers remain in jail, has angered their colleagues and families.
A court in the Nile Delta town of Delta Sunday held the third hearing session for the appeal filed by the two lawyers, who is jailed on charges of assaulting a local prosecutor.
The setencing has triggered a sharp dispute between Egypt's lawyers and judges. The court declared the decision on Sunday after a six-hour session.
The two lawyers Saa'i and Fattouh whowere sentenced to jail for five years for assaulting prosecutor Basem Abul Roos.
Their case has prompted lawyers to stage a nationwide strike.
