CAIRO, June 25,2018 (MENA) - Egypt's Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfiq asserted that security bodies have made big strides in the fight against terrorism, reiterating the importance of upgrading all service sectors to present better service to citizens. The minister's remarks were made during his meeting with a number of his assistants and top security officials across the country via video conference. The meeting aimed at discussing the security strategy in the current phase. The minister praised the comprehensive national security plan of action and its achievements over the past phase, citing its success in aborting a number of hostile schemes against the country. He asserted that the security bodies are in full alert and ready to stand against any schemes by terrorist groups to target the state, noting that Egypt has made big strides in its ferocious fight against terrorism and has successfully restored security and stability and tightened the noose around the terrorist groups. The minister also pressed the need for reviewing the strategic security plan to comply with the state's priorities of security and in the light of the recent regional changes and challenges. He urged the security apparatus nationwide to be in full alert and take all necessary measures to secure vital installations and control the monitoring of all roads leading to vital facilities along with deploying more security patrols in their surroundings. Tawfiq also pressed the need for tightening control over the fuel stations to avoid any illegal selling of fuel, asserting that any violations to laws will be handled firmly.
