CAIRO, May 19, 2018 (MENA) – Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria and Patriarch of St. Mark Diocese expressed thanks to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, all the Egyptian bodies concerned and the Libyan authorities for their strenuous efforts to find and return home the bodies of Egyptian Christians beheaded by Daesh in Libya in 2015. The pontiff made the remarks Friday during a meeting of the Holy Synod of the Coptic Orthodox Church. Last Monday, the bodies of 20 Egyptian Christians beheaded in Libya by Daesh in 2015 were flown back to Cairo. Libyan authorities recovered the bodies of the 20 Egyptians along with a Coptic Christian from Ghana last October. Pope Tawadros also lauded the state's efforts to revive the course of the Holy Family's journey in Egypt in a way that makes it a key religious tourist destination in the country.
