CAIRO, May 7, 2018(MENA) - The Trade and Industry Ministry has inked a memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) for boosting partnership and co-operation. The protocol was signed by Ahmed Taha of Egypt, Executive Director of the Industrial Modernisation Center (IMC) and UNIDO Representative and Director of its Regional Office in Egypt Giovanna Ceglie. Ceglie said that the protocol aims to promote creativity, terming it as a source of the sustainable economic development, a fact that would contribute to creating job opportunities for the youth. Ceglie made the remarks at the first strategic networking forum hosted by the Creative Mediterranean Project in co-operation with Creative Hub Egypt. This forum has brought together various bodies seeking to boost co-operation in Egypt's various cultural and creative sectors and upgrade their competitiveness on local and international levels, she said. For his part, the IMC executive director termed the Creative Hub Egypt as the outcome of the Creative Mediterranean project that is financed by the European Union (EU) along with the Italian Agency for Development Co-operation. It is supported by the Union for Mediterranean (UfM) and implemented by the UNIDO. Taha pointed out that the Creative Hub Egypt comprises large numbers of creative entrepreneurs and designers alongside small and medium sized companies operating in various fields, in an effort to raise awareness about the design concepts and global industrial production. The "Creative Mediterranean" project harnesses the creativity of artisans by bringing them together to work in a cluster. It helps the craftsmen modernise their processes and increase the quality of their products. The ultimate objective is to increase the artisans' access to international markets. "Creative Mediterranean" provides technical support to a total of 13 clusters in the region.
