CAIRO, April 7, 2018 - Vice Admiral Mohab Mamish, the Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) said on Saturday that 378 vessels carrying more than 24.2 million tonnes of goods passed through the New Suez Canal during the last eight days. Vice Admiral Mamish said that the Suez Canal received loads estimated at 171.2 million tonnes against 154 million tonnes in January and February. He praised the positive effects of the New Suez Canal in increasing the number of the crossing vessels as well as the success of the flexible marketing policies adopted by the Authority in attracting new shipping lines. Launched in 2015, the New Suez Canal is regarded as a value added to the national economy, represented in the growth of the national income due to the increase of the Suez Canal's revenues, establishing industrial and economic entities, constructing and developing a number of ports.
