Historic relations bind Egypt and Pakistan – Egypt's Mufti
Published in The Egyptian Gazette on 25 - 03 - 2018

LAHORE, Pakistan, March 25, 2018 - The deeply rooted historic relations between Egypt and Pakistan were characterised by distinction and co-operation, The All-Egypt Mufti Dr Shawki Allam said.
Addressing the military academy in Lahore, Pakistan, the Grand Mufti said that Allah, Glory be to Him, raised the position of Islamic fighters who sacrificed themselves for the sake of protecting their homeland.
The challenges and difficulties faced by the two countries are similar, so Egypt and Pakistan should continue co-operation and exchange of expertise in fighting terrorism and extremism, Dr Allam noted.
In his speech at the ceremony, he explained that Islamic scholars and thinkers are waging another war against extremists with the aim of rectifying the false thoughts.
He added that this war is as important as the war launched by the army to fight terrorists all over the world.
Dr Allam, who arrived in Pakistan last Tuesday on a several-day official visit on an invitation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony to throw weight behind the ministry's recent initiative of declaring suicide bombings un-Islamic, lauded the efforts exerted by Pakistani scholars in rallying the ranks to issue unified fatwas rejecting violence, terrorism and extremism.
Collective efforts are needed to frustrate the designs of terrorists, who wanted to tear apart the fabric of entire society, Dr Allam said.
He thanked both the Egyptian and Pakistani armies as they wage a relentless war against terrorism, adding that Allah, Glory be to Him, will grant them victory over the insurgents of this nation.
