ASWAN, March 12, 2018 - Minister of Irrigation and Water Resources, Mohamed Abdel Ati , said on Monday the ministry embarked on a strategy to develop and purge irrigation water and waste canals including those in Aswan , urging citizens not to throw garbage and wastes into water with the key aim of protecting our limited water resources. The government incurs hefty costs on annual basis to carry out purging works, the minister added, during his yesterday's visit to Aswan. Minister Abdel Ati also referred to his meeting with the High Dam officials to discuss their role in promoting water rationalisation. In further efforts, the minister met some school students to discuss the importance of rationalising the usage of water, urging them to protect water resources from pollution. The minister also visited KIMA project, listening to a detailed explanation of the project. The cost of the project's first phase has reached LE6.8 million.
