CAIRO, March 12, 2018 - Minister of Trade and Industry, Tarek Kabil, stated on Monday that developing innovation and linking scientific research to industrial development are topping the ministry's strategy 2020 to enhance industrial growth and foreign trade. "Such link has become indispensible in the light of the huge technological developments in all sectors, a matter that requires exerting more efforts to give due care to research and innovation with the key aim of going in tandem with the industrial trends," Minister Kabil remarked during his visit to the German University in Cairo (GUC) to review the university's latest projects in scientific research and industrialisation. Hailing the university's efforts, Minister Kabil said that the GUC is the world's first university to have an industrial research complex over an area of 40,000 square metres. The complex, Kabil continued, was established in 2006 in order to help students deal with latest technologies besides providing solutions for local manufacture and production. Minister Kabil also visited the GUC Solar City established in co-operation with the leading German DMG Mori company. Such city, Kabil said, aims to benefit from the long German expertise in this field to hone students' skills, enabling them to discover modern techniques in storing power and maximizing its benefits. The minister also visited the university's nano-robotics research lab, lauding its role in developing control systems.
