CAIRO, March 10, 2018 - The Minister of Housing, Public Utilities and New Urban Communities, Mostafa Madbouli, said on Saturday that the Ministry's Informal Settlements Development Fund (ISDF) is implementing projects at a total cost of LE509 million to upgrade a number of slums in the Red Sea Governorate. These projects include putting up 37 apartment blocs and 974 houses which will accommodate up to 10,000 persons, Minister Madbouli said. He added that the work on developing the Zirzara slum Hurghada was under way. The project aims at building 27 apartment blocs and 250 houses in addition to another 563 housing units that will accommodate up to 5,550 people at a total cost of LE195million. The ISDF's Executive Manager, Khaled Seddiq, said that there were on-going schemes that targeted three dangerous areas in Hurghada and Ras Ghareb. The aim at building housing units for the 700 residents of these dangerous areas at the cost of LE60 million.
