Egypt's Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Hassan El-Khatib, held a high-level bilateral meeting with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, on the sidelines of the Egypt–Singapore Business Forum, to discuss prospects for deepening strategic cooperation between the two countries. Minister El-Khatib emphasized that Egypt–Singapore relations hold untapped strategic potential, extending beyond current achievements. He highlighted Egypt's interest in expanding collaboration across key sectors, particularly digital transformation, port development, renewable energy, and water desalination. El-Khatib also presented a range of promising investment opportunities in the Suez Canal Economic Zone, positioning it as a vital regional hub that connects Asia, Africa, and Europe, and serves as a platform for global trade and logistics. President Shanmugaratnam commended Egypt's progress in modernizing its infrastructure and implementing bold economic reforms, describing the country as a promising partner in building regional and global value chains. He reiterated Singapore's interest in strengthening cooperation in technical education, vocational training, port management, and technology transfer, particularly in the logistics sector. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to elevating Egypt–Singapore ties into a comprehensive strategic partnership grounded in complementary strengths. They agreed to translate the current political momentum into long-term practical projects, positioning both nations as regional innovation and logistics hubs, and setting an example of effective international cooperation amid evolving global challenges.
