Egypt signs agreement with France to upgrade Hermel Oncology Hospital
Published in Daily News Egypt on 10 - 05 - 2025

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, attended on Saturday the signing of a new cooperation protocol between Egypt's Unified Procurement Authority and France's Gustave Roussy Institute—one of the world's leading cancer care and research centers.
According to Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, the agreement is designed to enhance services at Hermel Hospital—the only international branch of the Gustave Roussy Institute outside France—by ensuring its medical needs are met through Egypt's centralized procurement system. This includes access to competitively priced, high-quality medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and supplies sourced from accredited suppliers.
The protocol further outlines a plan to operate and manage Hermel Hospital in line with global healthcare standards, integrating state-of-the-art medical technologies and the latest administrative systems. The aim is to increase operational efficiency, improve patient care outcomes and satisfaction, and foster a safe and supportive work environment for both medical and administrative personnel—ultimately ensuring long-term service sustainability.
The signing ceremony took place at the Ministry of Health headquarters and was attended by Hisham Sateet, head of the Unified Procurement Authority. The protocol was signed by Amr Gad, Deputy Chairperson of the Authority, and Ahmed Morsi, Executive Director of Gustave Roussy International Egypt.
This partnership demonstrates Egypt's strategic focus on harnessing international expertise to modernize its healthcare infrastructure, particularly in critical specialties like oncology. It also reinforces the country's commitment to the goals of Egypt's Vision 2030, which places high-quality, accessible healthcare at the forefront of national development priorities.
