Egypt's Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed has visited the National Cancer Center in France (Gustave Roussy), to learn about its diagnosis and treatment system, in preparation for transferring this knowledge to hospitals and cancer treatment centres in Egypt.
The visit came as part of a tripartite cooperation agreement which was signed on Monday, between the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population, the National Cancer Center in France, and General Electric, which is one of the leading companies in the field of healthcare technology, diagnostics, and medical digital transformation.
On Saturday, Zayed headed to the French capital, Paris, to discuss with the French health officials, boosting cooperation between the two countries in the health sector.
The minister was accompanied by Dr. Mohamed Awad Taj El-Din, President's Advisor for Health and Preventive Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Al-Morsy, Executive Director of the President's Initiative to Support Women's Health, Dr. Reem Ibrahim, Director of the Oncology Center at Dar El-Salaam Hospital, and Najwa Salem, Head of the Health Minister's Office.
The agreement includes a twinning, the first of its kind, between the National Cancer Center in France (Gustave Roussy) and the Egyptian Center for Oncology.
Moreover, this twinning aims to ensure the transfer of expertise for the benefit of the Egyptian patient, as part of the initiative of the President of the Republic to support the health of Egyptian women under the slogan (100 Million Health).
It also aims to benefit from the "Gustave Roussy" programme to increase the speed and accuracy of breast cancer diagnosis in Egypt through the establishment of rapid diagnosis clinics for breast cancer.
As part of the agreement, the General Electric company provides the necessary financial support to operate these clinics, as well as training technical and administrative teams, and supporting the implementation of standard operating procedures to help operate these clinics.
During her visit to Paris, Zayed met with the head of the Gustave Roussy, and the directors of external relations and scientific research at the center, where it was agreed to quickly start implementing the one-day diagnostic clinic at Dar El-Salaam Hospital and operating it twice a week with a capacity of 20 cases.
