Published in Daily News Egypt on 25 - 03 - 2025

Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Egypt's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Health and Population, recently chaired the third meeting of the High Advisory Committee for Human Development, as part of the country's ongoing efforts to enhance human development in alignment with Egypt's Vision 2030.
The meeting reviewed the latest progress in implementing the national human development strategy, with contributions from key figures such as Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif, Presidential Advisor for Economic Development and former Minister of Planning Hala El-Said, and Magued Osman, Chairman of the Egyptian Center for Public Opinion Research "Baseera."
Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the official spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, emphasized the critical role of health and education in sustainable development, highlighting the need for integration between these sectors to build a more informed and healthier future generation.
Discussions at the meeting centered on efforts to develop early childhood programs, focusing on skill-building, creativity, and the provision of comprehensive educational, healthcare, and developmental services. Plans were also reviewed to expand the establishment of nurseries and kindergartens as part of Egypt's broader strategy for supporting early childhood development.
Additionally, the committee explored ways to improve children's health and nutrition, with initiatives aimed at combating malnutrition and reducing stunting rates under the presidential initiative "A New Beginning for Human Development."
The meeting also addressed improving pre-university education quality through enhanced learning environments, teacher training, and ensuring equitable access to education for all age groups.
Minister of Education Mohamed Abdel Latif highlighted the ministry's intensified efforts to improve literacy and reading skills among primary school students. He also emphasized the continuous revision of curricula to stay aligned with global educational standards, alongside the enhancement of school nutrition programs to provide students with balanced meals that support both their health and academic performance.
At the meeting's conclusion, it was agreed that continued coordination among the relevant authorities would be necessary to ensure the successful implementation of recommendations and the translation of ideas into actionable projects with clear timelines, all in support of Egypt's sustainable development goals under Vision 2030.
