Congolese Secretary-General for Defence Isidore Kaumbu Yankole met with Chairperson of the Arab Organisation for Industrialisation (AOI) Abdel Moneim Al-Terras in Cairo on Wednesday.
This visit comes within the framework of Egypt's keenness to strengthen and support relations with its brothers in the Nile Basin's countries.
During the meeting, Al-Terras stressed the importance of implementing the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to enhance cooperation with fellow African countries in various fields of industrialisation.
He noted that there are joint committees to strengthen and advance cooperative relations between the two countries and to develop economic and trade cooperation.
"AOI puts all its expertise and human and technological capabilities into cooperation and partnership with our brothers in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in the fields of defence and civil industry," Al-Terras stressed.
He added that AOI also trains human cadres and increases opportunities for marketing Egyptian products in the DRC, especially the AOI's distinguished products.
During an inspection tour of the AOI's range of products, the members of the Congolese military delegation affirmed their country's keenness to strengthen partnership relations with Egypt in all industrial and development fields.
They added that cooperation with the AOI comes within the framework of deepening local manufacturing, transferring and settling technology, exchanging experiences, and ushering in the fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation.
In May, Egypt and the DRC signed a protocol of cooperation in defence, training, and sharing of expertise during a two-day visit to the country by Egypt's Minister of Defence and Military Production Mohamed Zaki.
During the visit, Zaki — who headed a high-ranking military delegation — met with his Congolese counterpart Gilbert Kabanda Kurhenga and discussed a number of issues of joint interest in different military fields.
He underlined the importance of maintaining coordination and joint action between Egypt and the DRC along with boosting cooperation and support in military fields to achieve joint interests.
