Egypt, world condemn Israel's plan to displace Palestinians, destroy villages in West Bank
Published in Daily News Egypt on 09 - 05 - 2022

Egypt expressed, on Saturday, deep concern over the Israeli authorities' intention to demolish a number of Palestinian villages in the" Masfar Yatta "area in the occupied West Bank, and the consequent danger of displacing thousands of Palestinian residents of those villages.
According a statement of The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also Egypt stressed its rejection of the reported plan to build 4,000 new settlement units in the occupied Palestinian territories.
It also stressed that these two steps represent a flagrant violation of the rules of international law and the decisions of international legitimacy.
Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, reiterated Egypt's total condemnation of the settlement policy in the Palestinian territories, whether through the construction of new settlements or the expansion of existing ones, as well as the confiscation of land and the displacement of Palestinians,
Hafez stressed that the continuation of such unilateral measures increases tension and contributes to the cycle of violence, as well as undermining the chances of achieving a two-state solution and establishing a comprehensive and just peace in the region.
Israel's Supreme Court has approved the expulsion of about 1,300 Palestinians from an area designated as an army training ground in the occupied West Bank.
Human rights activists criticized the decision, which came after a legal battle that lasted more than 20 years.
The 3,300-hectare "shooting zone 918" is located near Hebron in the southern West Bank.
Herders and farmers live there in eight Palestinian villages.
The military had declared the area a "no-go Military Zone" at the beginning of the Eighties.
The court rejected the claims of the Palestinian
residents that they had lived there before.
The United Nations (UN)on Friday called on Israel to stop demolitions and evictions in the Occupied Palestinian territories, after the Supreme Court rejected petitions against evacuation orders for residents of the villages of Masafer Yatta in the occupied West Bank.
The resident and humanitarian coordinator for the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Lynn Hastings, said that on 4 May, the Israeli Supreme Court rejected petitions against evacuation orders for the residents of Masafer Yatta in the occupied West Bank.
According to the UN, the resolution affects more than a thousand Palestinians, including 500 children in the occupied West Bank and allows the evacuation of residents.
"As all domestic legal remedies have been exhausted, the community is now unprotected and at risk of imminent displacement, "she said.
She warned that any such evictions would lead to displacement that could amount to forced relocation, contrary to UN Security Council resolutions and international law.
