Japan provides Egypt with 30 equipped vehicles to transport COVID-19 vaccines
Support comes within COVAX mechanism in cooperation with GAVI

The Japanese government provided Egypt with 10 equipped vehicles to transport coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccines, manufactured by Toyota, at a value of $3.2m, the Health Ministry said on Monday.
On Sunday, Egypt's Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and Acting Minister of Health and Population, Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, received the Director General of the Japanese Toyota Motor Company in Egypt.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the health sector in Egypt, as Abdel Ghaffar thanked the Japanese partners for their support.
Moreover, the minister stressed the importance of supplying those cars equipped to transport vaccines, due to their great role in facilitating the process of transporting vaccines, as these vehicles are equipped at the highest level with all cooling capabilities, and four-wheel drive vehicles that enable them to travel long distances.
Abdel Ghaffar noted that it was agreed to support Egypt with 5 additional cars to transport vaccines through the COVAX mechanism in cooperation with the International Alliance for Serums and Vaccines (GAVI), as it is expected to arrive in Egypt during the next few days.
During the meeting, the Japanese side expressed readiness to provide 15 additional equipped vehicles to transport vaccines, to support the health sector in Egypt, stressing their keenness to provide all means of support to Egypt during the response to the pandemic.
