Egypt's engineering industries exports record 30% increase in Q1 2021
Engineering, electronic sector represents Egypt's fourth largest exports segment in Q1

Egypt's engineering exports have increased by 30% in the first quarter (Q1) of 2021, recording $739m compared to $567.3m in Q1 of 2020, according to the Engineering Export Council of Egypt (EECE).
The council said that the country's engineering exports witnessed an increase of 65% in March 2021 compared to the same month in 2020. Exports reached $274m this month compared to $165m in March 2020.
Engineering exports also rose by 15% in the first nine months (9M) of fiscal year (FY) 2020/21, registering $2.078bn compared to $1.805bn in the same period of FY 2019/20.
The most important engineering products whose exports increased were: automotive components by 26%; cables by 29%; household appliances by 35.4%; electrical and electronic products by 16%; transportation by 46%; and tableware and kitchen by 45%.
Meanwhile, the most important countries receiving Egyptian engineering exports are: the United Kingdom; Turkey; France; Germany; Spain; Greece; Slovenia; Italy; the Czech Republic; Saudi Arabia; Iraq; Kuwait; Hong Kong; Jordan; Lebanon; Jordan; Yemen; Algeria; Morocco; Sudan; Kenya; Togo; Tunisia; Nigeria; and Ghana.
In the latest report on the performance indicators of Egypt's non-oil foreign trade during Q1 of 2021, Ismail Gaber, head of the General Authority for Export and Import Control (GOIEC), confirmed that the engineering and electronic goods sector is the fourth largest sector among Egyptian exports during Q1 of 2021, with a value of $739m.
