Al Ahly closes in on quarter-finals of CAF Champions League

Egyptian footballing giants Al Ahly is close to qualifying for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League, after the club's precious victory over its Congolese rival, Vita Club, on Tuesday evening.
The clash between the two teams saw Al Ahly walk away with three goals and a clean sheet at the Al-Shuhada Stadium in the fourth round of the CAF Champions League's group stage.
The Egyptian side's goals were scored by Mohamed Sherif, Mohamed Magdy Qafsha, and Taher Mohamed Taher, who scored in the 7th, 19th, and 78th minutes, respectively.
The victory raised Al Ahly's balance to 7 points, ensuring their advance to second place, whilst Vita Club remains in third place on four points.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly's arch-rivals, Zamalek, face a more difficult situation regarding qualifying for the quarter-finals of the African Champions League.
The opportunity for the Cairo club was made more difficult, on Tuesday evening, by their loss against Esperance, in a match that ended in a 1-0 win for the Tunisians.
Zamalek needs a miracle to qualify, as the team is stuck on only two points from two draws against MC Alger and Senegal's Teungueth, and two losses against Esperance.
The White Knights currently ranked behind Esperance, which is in first place with ten points, and MC Alger with 8 points.
In order for Zamalek to achieve the only hope of qualification, it must win the first two matches against MC Alger in Algeria, before hosting Teungueth in Cairo in the last round. This will mean the Cairenes must score eight points, a number that might qualify it for the next round, provided a miracle occurs and the Algerians stumble in their next two matches.
If Zamalek wins in its next two matches, the team will grab second place, and rise to the next round at the expense of MC Alger.
