Egypt opens 11 applied technology schools since 2018
Students should apply certificate of preparatory school, pass tests to enroll

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly followed up with Minister of Education and Technical Education Tarek Shawki the establishment of 11 applied technology schools that kickstarted since 2018.
The Prime Minister asserted the importance of such schools, and their integration with technological universities, which are currently under construction supervised by the Ministry of Higher Education, with the goal of cultivating a graduate that can manage the new standards of the market.
Hoping that the education ministry will provide at least one technological school in every governorate, Madbouly said that the government is ready to provide all the necessary facilities, and cooperate with the private sector in order to expand these schools.
In the report reviewed by Madbouly, the education ministry indicated that during the past two years, it opened 11 schools. Eight of them were opened in 2019, along with three schools that were opened in 2018.
In this regard, the Minister of Education explained that the applied technology schools are model schools for technical education, working to apply international standards in teaching and training methods.
The ministry also confirmed giving equal opportunities for all students to enroll in applied technology schools, explaining that they will announce opening the schools for students to apply in the official website of the ministry in June and July.
For technical school enrollment, students should apply for a certificate of completion of the preparatory stage, then the student has to pass the ministry standard tests in Arabic and English languages in addition to mathematics and personal interviews.
The education ministry along with the private sector and educational institutions cooperate in order to establish those schools in order to enhance the technical education system in Egypt, and prepare students for the local and international market.
Deputy Minister Mohamed Megahed, said that such schools work to provide diversity specialisations in the applied technology schools to provide students with high technical skills and capabilities, in order to be able to deal with modern technology, which allow them to meet the needs of the labour market.
He added that the curricula in the technological schools have three elements, including basic and cultural sciences, technical sciences in the field of specialisation, in addition to practical training in factories and companies.
