Although we are entering the age of endless data plans, some areas in Egypt still suffer poor mobile network coverage, the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) announced in its November report. According to the report, a quality test was carried out to see how good the service is for 23,000km of populated areas, divided into 80 towns and neighborhoods. The measurements took place by testing voice and data services through thousands of test calls, in addition to a test for mobile data. The NTRA measured Vodafone's voice services in 80 cities, of which 29 cities are still suffering network coverage problems, mainly Madinaty, Badr, Nasr City, Abbasiya, Obour, Helwan, and east Alexandria. The authority also tested the quality of Etisalat's network in 80 neighborhood and cities, of which 29 districts were found having service quality problems, most notably Al-Obour, Al-Rehab, Madinaty, Fifth Settlement, Badr, Nasr City, Abbasiya, Al-Marg, Manial, Shubra Al-Khaimah, Imbaba, Helwan, Mokattam, east Alexandria, and Matrouh. The NTRA also tested Orange networks in 80 neighborhoods, of which 40 were having low level service quality, specifically in Nasr City and west Alexandria. In addition, WE network was tested in 80 regions, of which 67 were experiencing problems with the quality of voice services, the most prominent were Badr, Al Obour, Al Rehab, Nasr City, Ain Shams, Helwan, Maadi, Mokattam, Sheikh Zayed, October, Faisal, Al-Ahram, Imbaba, Mohandessin, east and west Alexandria, and Matrouh.
