EETC, EGEMAC sign EGP 1.7bn worth contracts to develop transmission networks

The Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) has signed four contracts, valued at EGP 1.7bn, with the Egyptian German Electrical Manufacturing Company (EGEMAC) to support and develop electricity transmission networks across the country.
Sabah Meshaly, the chairperson of EETC, said that the first contract stipulates establishing a new electricity transformer in New Zagazig City using gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) with a voltage of 11/66/220/550kV, worth EGP 725.8m and funded by the EETC.
The second contract includes establishing another transformer called "Economic 2" using GIS, with a voltage of 500/220/66/22kV, worth EGP 716.2m, and will be funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. The transformer will be completed within a period of 12 months from the date of signing the contract.
The third contract is funded by the European Investment Bank with EGP 49.17m to supply and supervise the installation of two 125mva transformers with a voltage of 220/66/11kV and two transformers of 40mva of 66/11kV at the Gamasa transformer station to be implemented within 14 months from the date of signing the contract.
As for the fourth contract, its total value is EGP 2-6m funded by the EETC to supply and install 11 transformers with 175mva capacity with an implementation period of 18 months from the date of signing the contract.
This contract will be implemented on two levels; the first one will include two transformers in Beni Suef with 220kV, two transformers in West Fayoum with 220kV, and two adapter connectors in Aswan with 220kV.
The second level will include two transformers in Zagazig with 220kV, one transformer in the 10th of Ramadan with 220kV, and two transformers in Temay El Amdeed with 220kV.
