Published in Daily News Egypt on 13 - 11 - 2017

XD EGMAC Company is set to complete building seven transformer substations within two months at a cost of EGP 650m.
XD EGEMAC's CEO, Medhat Ramadan, told Daily News Egypt that the company is implementing stations of 220/66/22 and 220/11/66 kV in Sharm El Sheikh, Hurghada, South Tanta, Maasara, Ebny Beitak, Zizinia, and Nargis.
He added that the stations will be completed within two months. These projects come within the plan of the Ministry of Electricity to expand the Egyptian national electric grid and develop it to accommodate the energy that will be added from the new power plant being implemented.
The Ministry of Electricity has started implementation of the plan to develop energy transfer capacity and the connecting stations during the past year and plans to finish it next year.
Ramadan added that the company has fired electricity to Hadaba transformer substation with a voltage of 2260/66/11 and West Aswan substation. The company is now working to complete the transformer substations in Juhayna, west Luxor, and Bani Mazar in Minya.
The company is carrying out two transformer substations with a voltage of 66/11 kV in East Qena and Karam Al Deeb in Aswan with a value of EGP 80m. This project is financed by the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC). There are also more projects being implemented in cooperation with the armed forces.
The capacity of projects is set at 220/66/11 kV per station under the EETC. The implementation period extends over four months and is expected to be opened in 2018.
EX EGEMAC is contributing to the energy plan that includes transmission substations with a capacity of 2,700 MVA and voltage of 500 kV and linking lines of 870 km.
Stations will also be established to transmit 10,000 MVA and 220 kV with a line of 5,500 km.
In addition, the plan includes more substations of 12,000 MVA of capacity and 66 kV of voltage with a line extending over 5,600 km. This totals 12,000 km of lines in this plan alone.
