Al-Sisi, Al-Bashir discuss bilateral, regional relations in Khartoum at their 22nd summit
Egyptian-Sudanese relations witnessed a rapprochement after weeks of troubled relations

President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi will meet with his Sudanese counterpart Omar Al-Bashir Thursday during a two-day visit to the Sudanese capital Khartoum. The visit is set to tackle the updates of relations between the two countries and the exerted efforts for boosting and deepening cooperation.
During the 22nd summit between the two leaders, they will exchange views regarding the latest updates in the region and other issues of common interest, according to state media.
Osama Shaltout, Egypt's ambassador to Sudan, said that Al-Sisi's visit to Khartoum is welcomed at all levels amid the specificity of the Egyptian-Sudanese relations.
Shaltout added to MENA that Al-Sisi's keenness on visiting Sudan as his first destination after being elected for a second term reflects the importance of the Egyptian-Sudanese relations. During the last four years, Al-Sisi visited Sudan four times, while Al-Bashir visited Egypt six times.
According to Shaltout, the bilateral relations between the two countries have increased during the past four years, including raising the level of the supreme committee between the two states to the presidential level, as well as the increase of commercial exchange.
Lately, the Egyptian-Sudanese relations witnessed a rapprochement after weeks of troubled relations over several issues, including the Halayeb and Shalateen Triangle and hosting members of the Egyptian-banned Muslim Brotherhood organisation, in addition to the media spat following Sudan's allowance for Turkey to develop Swaken Island in the Red Sea.
