Egyptian-Sudanese relationship is important, strategic: Al-Bashir
Sudanese president hopes for higher level of relations with Egypt

Sudanese President Omar Al-Bashir stressed on Monday the importance of Egyptian-Sudanese ties, which he described as a strategic relationship. He also asserted the necessity of "putting this relationship on the right path."
During his speech before Sudan's National Legislature, Al-Bashir said, "we exerted special care in boosting relations with our neighbouring countries," adding, "we have employed our presidential diplomacy to achieve a big change in our relationship with Egypt on the basis of transparency, clarity, and exchanged interests, in addition to preserving national sovereignty and not intervening in the internal affairs [of each country]."
Al-Bashir also expressed hope that Egyptian-Sudanese relations in the future will reach a higher level that equals their deep and historic ties.
Three weeks ago, President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi received his Sudanese counterpart Al-Bashir in Cairo to discuss bilateral relations. During their meeting, the two leaders agreed to boost the common interests of both countries while respecting the internal circumstances of the two countries.
Lately, the Egyptian-Sudanese relations witnessed a rapprochement after weeks of troubled relations over several issues, includingthe the Halayeb and Shalateen triangle and Sudan allegedly hosting members of the banned Muslim Brotherhood organisation, along with the media spat following Sudan's allowance of Turkey to develop Swaken Island in the Red Sea.
