Minister of Trade and Industry Amr Nassar said in a press statement on Monday that Egypt's non-petroleum exports increased by 14% to reach $12.75bn in the first half (H1) of 2018, up from $11.21bn in the first six months of 2017.
Notably, Egypt's non-oil exports rose by 9% last year to reach $21bn, compared to $19.3bn in 2016, according to a report of the General Organisation for Export and Import Control published by the Middle East News Agency in January.
The minister further explained that the Egyptian exports to the European Union markets increased by 18%, during the first six months of this year to reach $3.65bn.
On the other hand, he stated that the Egyptian exports to the Arab markets increased by 5% to reach $4.77bn in the same period of 2018.
Nassar pointed out that the non-oil Egyptian exports to the US market achieved an increase of 11% to record $705m in the aforementioned period.
"Egyptian exports to the African markets without Arab countries' markets increased 27% to record $756m," the minister said.
The minister asserted that the ministry is seeking in the current phase to open more new markets, expand traditional markets, and make full use of the network of Free Trade Agreements signed with a large number of countries and economic blocs around the world.
