The German company Siemens intends to add 1,200 MW of electricity to the national grid in January 2018 through three production units in the New Administrative Capital power plant.
Sources at the Ministry of Electricity said that the company is committed to the timetable for implementation, where the total energy added from the Beni Suef, Borollos, and the New Administrative Capital power plants will amount to 4,800 MW by the end of next month.
The sources explained that Siemens will add 400 MW from the Beni Suef power plant in February 2018. According to the agreement with the German company, 1,600 MW will be added in March 2018, including 1,200 MW from three units in Beni Suef and 400 MW from Borollos.
In April 2018, 2,000 MW will be added. This includes 1,200 MW from three production units in the New Administrative Capital power plant, 400 MW from Al-Borollos, and 400 MW from Beni Suef.
Moreover, the agreement with Siemens includes adding 400 MW from the power plant in Al-Borollos in May 2018. This will boost energy linked to the grid to 14,400 MW.
Gaber Desouky, chairperson of the Egyptian Electricity Holding Company (EEHC), said that the first phase of the three projects add 4,800 MW to the total energy grid, including 2,400 MW from six production units in Beni Suef, 1,600 MW from four units in Al-Borollos, and 800 MW from two production units in the New Administrative Capital power plant.
