The programme targets 120 small entrepreneurs working in furniture

The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise Development Authority (MSMEDA), formerly the Social Fund for Development, announced launching the first specialised training programme for furniture manufacturers in Damietta Furniture City (DFC).
Head of the MSMEDA Nevin Gamea said the training programme comes within the development of the production assemblies project carried out by the authority in cooperation with the African Development Bank. It was financed by the Middle East and North Africa Transition Fund to promote production assemblies, including workshops and furniture factories in DFC. The project comes in the framework of the Industrial Development Strategy 2020 set by the Ministry of Trade and Industry, in line with the sustainable development strategy 2030.
Gamea pointed out that the training programme is carried out in coordination with Damietta governorate and Damietta Furniture City Company, as well as the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI). The programme will benefit about 120 owners of small and medium enterprises operating in the furniture sector.
She stressed that MSMEDA is keen on providing training services for many industries and crafts besides its financial services to improve the local production and qualify it for competition.
The training programme consists of five specialised technical courses, including furniture design, use/maintenance of modern machinery and equipment, modern types of inputs such as natural/industrial wood, modern upholstery, and modern environmentally friendly paints.
The programme also includes preparing Egyptian trainers to replace international ones, so as to continue providing the program in the future.
