In a related context, the minister noted that the new city is considered a successful model of co-operation between the government and the private sector. "The new city will be one of the largest industrial zones in furniture industry in the Middle East. It will put Egypt's furniture industry on the international map by benefiting from global expertise to develop such vital industry," Kabil commented. The DFC, Kabil continued, would make a quantum leap in the furniture industry in Damietta, turning it into an integrated furniture city besides enhancing its competitiveness on regional and international levels. The minister, meanwhile, pointed out that the city covers an area of 331 feddans and helps offer more direct and indirect job opportunities that are expected to exceed 100,000 opportunities. The capital of the DFC company has been estimated at LE5 billion, he concluded.
