The Minister of Trade and Industry is signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Siemens Egypt on Sunday in order to develop industrial zones technologically.
According to a statement issued by the ministry, the MoU would include benefiting from the experience of Siemens in the field of developing industry and improving the skills of local industries and manufacturing.
The statement explained that the MoU mainly aims to provide an integrated package of innovative products and solutions specially designed for industrial zones in Egypt in a way that allows turning them into smart industrial zones.
On Sunday, Minister of Trade and Industry Tarek Kabil is opening the events of the exhibition and forum organised by Siemens Egypt under the title "Digital transformation techniques and their impact on industrial sectors".
The statement said that the forum will showcase ways to benefit from the digital transformation and apply it to the case of Egyptian industries in preparation for the fourth industrial revolution.
About 300 business leaders from both the private and public sector will be taking part in the forum, according to the statement.
The forum will include a series of discussions about emerging technologies, such as the internet of things, digital institutions, manufacturing technology, and the MindSphere operating system, which is an open-source operating system from Siemens for industrial sectors.
Representatives of the government, together with the private sector and educational sector, will discuss some necessary factors to support digital transformation on a wide scale, including the development of skills, research, and building partnerships, as well as investments.
The government greatly relies on reforming the educational system in order to create smart generations that are able to lead and make a difference to Egypt's future.
