Internet market attracts 200,000 new customers in April 2016
Slight decline in number of subscribers, says Ministry of Communications

A report by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has shown a slight decline of 0.12% in the number of mobile service subscribers in April, compared to March.
The number of subscribers reached 95.26 million users, and mobile phone penetration hit 108.2%, according to the report. The number of subscribers declined by 2.5% in April 2016, as compared to April 2015.
Internet services attracted 200,000 new users, reaching 33.6 million during April, compared to 33.4 million in March 2016.
280,000 new users subscribed to mobile internet services, as the number of users increased from 25.8 million in March to 26.08 million in April 2016, with an increase of 0.77%.
Subscribers to USB modems have increased by 0.41% in April, recording 3.53 million, compared to 3.52 million users in March 2016.
The number of users of fixed internet service ADSL went up by 1.18% in April, compared to March, recording a total number of 4.05 million users.
Greater Cairo acquired the largest number of ADSL users with 44% of total internet users, according to the report. The Delta governorates came second with a share of 28%, while Alexandria and Marsa Matrouh obtained a share of 11%, followed by the Upper Egypt governorates with 11% of total internet users. The governorates of Sinai, the Red Sea, and the Suez Canal cities obtained 6% of the total number of users.
