138 governmental corruption cases monitored in January: PFT
Minister of Health ranked highest in corruption incidents, with 23 cases

At least 138 cases of corruption across governmental entities were monitored by the local observatory for corruption, Partners for Transparency (PFT) in January.
PFT declared in its report Sunday that the Ministry of Health has the highest incidents of corruption, with 23 incidents in January. The municipal councils followed with 20 corruption cases monitored and the Ministry of Supply with 18 cases.
Few other corruption cases were monitored across ministries of interior affairs, agriculture, water resources, social solidarity, in addition to the presidency.
Only 22 incidents were referred to court, whereas 89 other cases are still pending police investigations, and three cases received final court decisions, leaving 24 cases.
Among the cases highlighted in the health sector, was the referral of 27 medical personnel in Daqahleya for managerial and medical violations. There were corruption incidents of a bigger scale in January, including the famous Interior Ministry corruption case and the head of Central Auditing Agency corruption accusations.
Meanwhile, Transparency International announced in January that Egypt has moved six positions forward in its global corruption rank to the year 2014, from 94th to 88th.
PFT announces its report on monthly basis where it monitors from local news websites and announced official statements the corruption incidents among civil servants. In December, it documented 87 cases and 104 cases in August.
