NTRA monitors overall decline in quality of voice calls
Vodafone tops voice call quality, while Mobinil comes first in data transmission tests
Published in Daily News Egypt on 30 - 01 - 2016

The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) report on the quality of mobile services during December revealed a decline in the performance of Egypt's three mobile telecommunications companies.
There were 201 failed voice calls and 103 dropped call attempts, out of approximately 39,300 calls conducted in Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia, compared to 203 failed attempts and 78 dropped calls out of 47,000 calls conducted in November 2015.
The report revealed that Vodafone topped the voice call services in Cairo: more than 13,500 connections were attempted, out of which only 52 failed. Etisalat ranked second, with over 12,900 connections attempted and only 63 failed. Mobinil was third, with 86 failed operations out of a total of 12,900 connection attempts.
As for dropped calls, Mobinil led the operators in terms of performance, with only 17 calls dropped out of a total of 12,900 calls. Vodafone came second with only 34 dropped calls of 13,500 conducted, while Etisalat came third, dropping 52 of 12,900 calls.
All three operators were still within the limit set by the NTRA of 2% rate connection failure and dropping calls, as well as the quality of the voice calls.
Meanwhile, Mobinil topped the rankings for quality of mobile Internet services with no failed attempts to connect to the Internet in Cairo, Giza, and Qalyubia at 5,300 successful connections. Vodafone was second, with six failed attempts out of a total 4,300 connections. Etisalat followed, with 10 failed attempts of 4,200 connections.
