National Security Apparatus officer Major Ahmed Al-Refaie died Saturday due to injuries inflicted in the blast that took lives of three policemen and six civilians Thursday in Giza, raising the death toll to ten. The explosion caused a residential building to collapse in Al-Lebiny neighbourhood in Giza's Al-Haram St, injuring 15: one policeman and 14 citizens. The Islamic State (IS) claimed it planted the explosive devices in anticipation of a police raid. However, the ministry's statement said the raid targeted the building specifically after learning that there were explosive devices created there by specialised committees of the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood group. Further complicating the ascription of the attack to any one body, The Revolutionary Punishment also claimed responsibility for the explosion. It said in a statement that it was a suicide operation as members of the group were present in the apartment.
