Published in Daily News Egypt on 03 - 09 - 2014

Banque Misr will fund an EGP 100m initiative donation of computers to schools, according to a Tuesday press release of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce.
The computers will be made available in schools for use by teachers, parents of students, and staff of the Ministry of Education, by the federation's general division of computers and software.
Minister of Education Mahmoud Abou El Nasr will sign a trilateral protocol cooperation this coming Sunday, including the Ministry of Education, the general division of computers and software in the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, and Banque Misr.
Both Ahmed Alwakeel, chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce and Mohamed Barakat, chairman of Banque Misr will sign the agreement.
"This initiative aims to spread the culture of interactive learning using computers of all kinds, accessories and other tools of information and communication technology, within the Egyptian society," said engineer Khalil Hassan Khalil, head of the general division of computers and software in the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce.
This initiative will benefit over 2 million teachers and 18 million students in pre-university education.
The initiative will take expertise from alliances of ICT companies in Egypt, and will include the support of subsidiaries in sales, distribution and after-sales service. This will spread the benefit on all companies regardless of their activities, sizes, and geographical location.
The priority will be given to devices manufactured and assembled locally, with some involvement from international brands as well.
"Banque Misr will provide EGP 100m initially in the form of instalments," said Khalil. "The door will be open to all companies before the end of next week to subscribe through alliances as previously mentioned."
Khalil also said that the general division of computers and software would ensure the maintenance and provision of technical support services for individuals in all governorates through companies participating in the initiative.
