Published in Daily News Egypt on 12 - 02 - 2014

A new protocol has been signed between the Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy and Ahmed El-Wakil, chairman for the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), to supply computer devices to Egyptian schools nationwide.
Minister of Education Mahmoud Abou El Nasr, who was present during the protocol's signing, said it would strengthen the partnership between the government and the private sector.
Priority will be given to the locally manufactured and assembled computer devices, which will be provided by the Egyptian companies that are listed in the Chamber of Commerce.
El-Wakil said the protocol was the result of continuous communication with the ministry during the past period. The protocol will employ a larger number of companies and workers, helping to boost economic and social conditions in Egypt.
Last week, Helmy and El Nasr spoke at a conference in Moqattam focused on e-learning in pre-university educational systems.
During the conference, Helmy said the government is aware of the importance of education and is invested in reforming Egypt's education system. The minister said the two ministries cooperated on building a model that will benefit from the information and communication technology tools to upgrade the educational system and increase its efficiency.
