Friday protests continue
Published in Daily News Egypt on 07 - 02 - 2014

The Anti-Coup Alliance, backed by the Muslim Brotherhood and other groups demanding the return of ousted president Mohamed Morsi, called for more demonstrations on Friday.
Marches on Friday took place in various neighbourhoods in Cairo, Alexandria, and other cities across the country under the banner "the people complete their revolution".
The alliance described former president Hosni Mubarak and Minister of Defence Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi "two sides of the same coin" and "enemies of the 25 January Revolution," calling for "peaceful escalation" to topple the interim government.
Earlier on Friday two explosions went off in Giza, targeting a police checkpoint. The detonations, caused by homemade devices according to the Ministry of Interior, left six injured. Explosives experts arrived to the scene to carry out investigations into the blasts.
Interim Prime Minister Hazem El-Beblawi condemned the attack, saying, "such terrorist operations will not succeed in tampering with security and the safety of the country."
Last Friday the Ministry of Health said that one protester had been killed and 35 injured, as security forces continued to crack down on street demonstrations.
The week before, on the third anniversary of the 25 January Revolution, an independent count listed 89 people killed. The Ministry of Interior announced that 1,079 had been arrested on that day.
