Security authorities reportedly foiled an attempt to smuggle military uniforms out of the country. A statement issued by the Armed Force's spokesman stated that security found the cargo weighing three tonnes at Cairo International Airport on Saturday morning, consisting of 93 boxes containing uniforms “similar to” uniforms used by Egyptian army personnel. The cargo included khaki shirts, wool undershirts, and the shoulder emblems used on uniforms for both military personnel and those working for the Ministry of Interior. The army stated that following preliminary investigations, it founds that the cargo load was scheduled to be transferred without proper documentation or approval from security or military to Beghazi on Sunday and was destined for a store in the Libyan city that sells military clothing. Security forces also found two shipments of camouflage material used to make military uniforms in Alexandria. A Chinese company responsible for the shipments is being investigated by prosecutors in Alexandria, according to state-owned Al-Ahram. Last week the military found three rolls of fabric used to make army uniforms and two rolls for police uniforms in a tunnel between Sinai and Gaza last week. A statement from the army advised Egyptian citizens to exercise caution, warning them of the possibility of an incident involving impersonators of Egyptian military personnel.
