Alleged killers of police officer arrested
Published in Daily News Egypt on 06 - 03 - 2013

The alleged killers of Lieutenant Mahmoud Nassef were arrested by police on Wednesday morning.
Nassef was head of the patrol team of the Masr Al-Qadeema police department. He died in the early hours of Tuesday while trying to prevent a bank robbery.
Nassef led a team of policemen to the scene after receiving information about the robbery.
When the policemen arrived at the scene, the robbers fled. Nassef noticed a car at the side of the road. When he approached it, one of the people inside the car shot him and fled the scene.
A statement by the Ministry of Interior said the men involved in killing Nassef have confessed to the murder and added that they had stolen the car involved.
Police arrested two plumbers in their 20s, Hosni Abdel-Ghani and Emad Mohamed. Abdel-Ghani had previously been charged with nine crimes, including possession of weapons, a robbery and a drug-related crime.
The firearm used to kill the policeman was found in the possession of Rouby El-Senni, a vendor who has 11 charges on his record, the most recent being a drug-related charge.
After funeral prayers were held for Nassef in Al-Shorta Mosque, angry policemen temporarily blocked the vital Salah Salem road, which was re-opened shortly after by a traffic policeman.
