Al-Dostour Party calls for protest
Published in Daily News Egypt on 30 - 01 - 2013

Al-Dostour Party has called for a protest and march on Wednesday to “continue the Revolution" and to show solidarity with Port Said, Suez, and Ismailia.
In a press statement, the party called for a protest at Al-Nahda Square at 5:00 pm to show support for the northern governorates, “especially Port Said because of the violence it has witnessed."
Violence has been widespread in the three governorates since Friday. In Port Said, dozens have died and hundreds were injured. On Sunday night, President Mohamed Morsy declared a state of emergency in the governorates, enforcing a curfew from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am.
Al-Dostour co-founder Maha Mekawy said representatives of the National Front for Women and the Mass Action Coordination for Egypt's Women will join the protest.
“If the number of people who show up at the protest is big we will march to Istiqama Mosque in Giza Square," Mekawy said.
Al-Dostour also announced there will be a march starting at the mosque at 6:00 pm, calling it the “march to continue the demands of the Revolution."
Amgad Besheer, one of the organisers of the march said the demands will be the same demands of the 2011 Revolution: “bread, freedom, and social justice." He said some people may bring their own demands such as the end of the Muslim Brotherhood's rule.
The exact route of the march has yet to be decided. Besheer explained that that would depend on the number of people who show up. “If the numbers are large we might march to the Governorate of Giza or the Giza Directorate of security," he said.
Besheer expressed concern that if the march is small, it may not be peaceful.
