Thousands of protesters marched on Tahrir from mosques around Cairo during a planned demonstration Friday. Approximately 5000 protesters, including members from the April 6 Youth Movement and other activist groups, marched from Fateh Mosque in downtown Ramses Square chanting “Down with military rule” and “Bread, freedom and social justice.” Hundreds marched from Istiqama Mosque in Giza toward Tahrir chanting slogans that echoed protest demands: a timetable for the transfer of power to a civilian government and the end of military trials for civilians. Another 2000 protesters marched toward Cairo's central square from Shubra's Khazendar Mosque and Dawaran Shubra with banners that read, “A minimum wage for those who live in cemeteries” and “A maximum wage for those who live in palaces.” In Nasr City, dozens of April 6 activists marched from Rabea al-Adawya Square, calling on residents to join them.
