CAIRO: Ahly Jeddah playmaker Walid Soliman whipped in some precise crosses to help his team beat Taawon 4-1 in a friendly game on Sunday. The Egyptian midfielder, who joined the Saudi giants on a six-month loan from Petrojet, was named in the starting eleven and put in a promising performance. The 24-year-old is yet to make his competitive first appearance with Ahly, but is already gaining in popularity among his new outfit s fans. After setting up the first couple of goals, scored by Mohamed Eid and Badr Al-Kharashi, Soliman was cheered by Ahly s spectators, who were in awe of his display. Abdul-Rahim Al-Gizawy and Hussein Al-Absi notched Ahly s third and fourth respectively in the morale-boosting victory. Soliman is widely expected to form a striking partnership with Saudi ace Malek Moeaz. He s also tipped to make his competitive Ahly debut on Saturday against Fath in the Prince Faisal bin Fahad Cup, round of 16.
