Sports Roundup: Abdul-Ghani out for two weeks

Zamalek midfielder Alaa Abdul-Ghani will be out of action for a fortnight after suffering an arm injury during his side s Arab Champions League (ACL) match against OS Meknes.
The 27-year-old broke his right arm in Zamalek s 2-2 draw with Morocco s Meknes in the second-leg of the ACL preliminary round on Sunday, the result that lifted the team to the competition s round of 16.
Abdul-Ghani will miss Zamalek s Egyptian League game against Asiut Petroleum on the 5th of November.
Meanwhile, Zamalek are considering calling-off some of the sports to save money, club board member Yehia Mostafa said.
The Cairo club suffers huge financial losses as their annual revenues are LE 18 million while they pay LE 42 million to manage all sports.
Mahjoub hopes for fair refereeing

Sfaxien coach Murad Mahjoub is hoping for an impartial referee for his side s clash against Ahli in the African Champions League final.
I fully trust my players, who will honor Sfaxien and the Tunisian football, I m just looking for just refereeing, Mahjoub was quoted as saying by Tunisian newspaper Al-Chourouk on Wednesday.
Egyptian champions Ahli will host Sfaxien in the first-leg of the African Champions League on Sunday.
Confederation of African Football (CAF) appointed Gambian referee Modou Sowe for the first-leg while Benin s Coffi Codjia will be in charge of the return-leg on the 12th of November.
Mahjoub said his players are determined to win the African trophy after a long journey to the competition s final for the first time in Sfaxien s history.
We have achieved our dream, now we have to bear fruit, he added.
Twenty Egyptians up for all-time African player award

Twenty Egyptian players have been short-listed for the African best player in the last 50 years award as CAF celebrate their golden jubilee.
The Confederation of African Football has designed a voting system that will allow internet users to vote for the best from a list of 200 players, CAF said on their official website.
The 200 players were distributed into four generations 1) 1957-1970, 2) 1970-1980, 3) 1980-1990, and 4) 1990-2006.
Votes for players from generation (1) will be worth 4 points, from generation (2) will be worth 3 points, from generation (3) will be worth 2 points, and from generation (4) will be worth 1 point to give old and new generation of players equal chances , CAF said.
Votes should be sent by email to [email protected] before 15th November 2006 so CAF can announce the top 50 players on their website from December 2006 until Feb. 7th, 2007, which marks the anniversary of founding the African football's governing body.
